Screenskills (originally called Skillset) is the lead body for the screen industries in the UK. Funded by a levy from UK media firms, it provides subsidised training courses and other activities aimed at strategically supporting our industry.  

The Digital Production Partnership (DPP) is best known for co-ordinating the delivery standards for all the UK’s broadcasters and setting up common practice and systems.   

The International Association of Broadcast Manufacturers supports the companies who make our equipment. It also runs events and conferences, workshops and training courses for members.  

The Broadcast Bridge is a digital, weekly digest of news, articles and training from across the industry. It is a curated feed and provides well written, worthwhile information to keep you up to date with technology and developments. 

The Guild of Vision Mixers is a professional membership group for  vision mixers working in the UK.  

Previously a real powerhouse in broadcast training, today the BBC Academy mainly provides internal training and development to BBC staff.  

The International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives is a membership group for those who curate and manage sound and pictures.  

The Nation Film and Television School provides a range of courses, on the whole production oriented, from degrees and diplomas to short courses.   

Perpetual Solutions is a London based training provider which is largely focused towards engineering for telecommunications.  

Bucks New University runs an excellent Media Production degree course with links to both manufacturers and broadcasters.

Fédération Internationale des Archives de Télévision (FIAT) or The International Federation of Television Archives (IFTA) is a global membership organisation supporting media archives.  

The Guild of Television Camera Professionals is a UK based ‘not for profit’ organisation providing help, advice and support to camera operators worldwide.  

The International Broadcast Convention runs one of the world’s largest trade shows. It features every conceivable product you could imagine related to broadcast, media and film production or delivery.  

The Society of Television Lighting and Design is a professional group aimed at supporting and promoting the skills of those who work in TV lighting.
