Course Description

A mentorship for technicians and engineers who need to be able to train. The program provides a two day course in training techniques, where potential trainers will learn, discuss techniques and good practice. It is followed by time to prepare and deliver a training session, which will be observed and reviewed. The course is about learning to handle a class or audience and developing the confidence required to lead a group.

Course Duration: 2 classroom days, followed by distance learning, mentoring and advice.

Course Outcomes

At the end of the course, you will:

  • Understand the basics of how people learn.
  • Be able to plan a prepare a learning session.
  • Preparing learning aids and demonstrations.
  • Understand the importance of the story in providing something people will remember.

Prior Knowledge:

Although this is a beginners session, it will require those attending to already have their own specialist subject matter. It is about learning to teach, not learning about the content that will be taught.

  • Good practice
  • Learning styles.
  • Visual, Auditory and kinaesthetic learners.
  • Planning a curriculum.
  • Setting aims and objectives for each session.
  • Teaching styles and different groups sizes.
  • Creation of learning aids.
