Studio Camera Skills

Course Description

In this introduction to studio camera work, you will learn about team work and how to create a program in the multi-camera environment. The course looks at rigging, operation and practical skills. It will develop your ability to frame a good image, understand your role as a team member in providing the right shot at the right time and learn how to use a camera in a creative way to turn shots into complex developing images.

Course Duration: 3 days.

Course Outcomes

At the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Setup and use a studio camera.
  • Understand the importance of safety on the studio floor.
  • Work as part of a team to get the pictures required to make a show.

Prior Knowledge

This is an introductory course, so does not require any specific prior knowledge. However, the introduction to video course and the production processes course might prove useful additions to the skills set either before or after this training.

  • The grammar of pictures.
  • Framing, looking room and matching shots.
  • Operating Pedestals.
  • Using a handheld camera.
  • Dynamic shots.
  • Scripts and camera cards.
  • Etiquette, talkback and comms.
