Broadcast Quality Assessment

Course Outline

This course is looks at how to assess program content to broadcast standards. It starts with the concepts of quality control, the processes involved and the systems used to manage quality. It provides a chance to look at and discuss in detail, the parameters which appear in many technical delivery standards and to think about the processes which a quality assessor needs to apply and the reports which need to be written. It provides practical experience of faults and assessing content and will help assessors gain confidence in judging quality.

Course Outcomes

At the end of the course, delegates will:

  • Understand the processes used by broadcasters to maintain quality.
  • Understand and know how to use the 5 point grading scale.
  • Understand the quantitative parameters set in technical standards.
  • Understand the qualitative parameters set in technical standards and how to apply them.

Prior Knowledge:

This is a specialist advanced course, so delegates will need to have a good understanding of video and audio, files, digital and compression and waveforms before attending this course.
