Course Description

This training course looks at the requirements of acquiring, handling and post producing content in multi channel surround. It looks at the delivery methods and introduces the idea of metadata to control how material is reproduced at the destination according to the listeners needs. It answers the questions about what, why and how programs can work in surround as well as explaining how limited surround content can be provided without having to cost the earth.

Course Outcomes

At the end of this course you will understand:

  • How stereo and multichannel systems create a sound stage.
  • How multichannel can be created in both live and post environments.
  • How metadata is used to configure multichannel audio in the home.
  • The terminology and jargon related to multi-channel sound.

Prior Knowledge

This course requires attendees to have a good working knowledge of basic sound and audio. Attending the Training for TV Introduction to Sound course or similar is recommended as a minimum requirement for those considering this course.

  • Working with loudness metering.
