Gallery Skills.

Course Description

A course which looks at the skills required to manage programs in the live environment of a gallery. It will cover the preparations for a studio day, creation of the script and other paperwork before looking at the time management and communications skills which are required to support the creative team and get a show successfully on and off air.

Course Duration: 3 days.

Course Outcomes

At the end of the course, you will understand:

  • How to prepare a script and running order.
  • How to communicate with the rest of the crew.
  • How to time show segments.
  • How to manage show timings, provide accurate timing updates to the the team and keep the show duration on target. 

Prior Knowledge

This course is aimed at Production Assistants and requires a basic knowledge of TV production. It is therefore recommended that anyone wishing to attend this course should first attend Production Processes, The TV Magic Show or equivalent.

Course Outline

The topics covered will include:

  • Script creation; what to include and how to lay it out.
  • Creating a running order and what to include.
  • Camera cards.
  • Communications; working with talkback.
  • How to support the director.
  • Counting and timing inserts.
  • Managing and timing segments.
  • Getting a show on air.
  • Getting a show off air.
  • Working with networks.
